The planned number of places (Published Admission Number – PAN) for each year group in September 2022 is 240.
Primary School Students
The Local Authority will contact families of Year 5 children in June and provide you with information on how to apply for a secondary school place. In March of Year 6 you will be offered a place at a secondary school. At this point, Graham School will contact all families who have been offered a place with them for the following September.
Graham School usually feeds from a set catchment area that, as a general guide, includes children who live in areas served by the following schools:
East Ayton
Friarage
Gladstone Road
Hinderwell
St Martin’s
Wheatcroft
And parts of the catchment areas of:
Barrowcliff
Newby & Scalby
Northstead
Currently, as primary school numbers in these areas are relatively low, Graham School also has places available for children who live outside of the normal catchment area. Graham School currently also has students who transferred from the following primary schools:
The Local Authority deals with in-year admissions on our behalf and you should contact the Area Education Office in the first instance. Once we receive notification from the Local Authority that your child has been offered a place at Graham School one of our Assistant Headteachers will contact you and invite you to a pre-admission meeting.
At the pre-admission meeting you will tour the school, meet your child’s prospective Head of Year and be given information about our policies and procedures. Following the meeting we will feed back to the Local Authority who will then confirm the offered place, assuming there are no issues raised by either the school or the parents.
Once an admittance date has been agreed and you have completed our admission pack and purchased school uniform your child will be able to begin attending Graham School. Their first day at school will usually be a Monday.
Voluntary Aided, Foundation, Academy, UTC and Free Schools
The determination of admission arrangements for Voluntary Aided, Foundation, Academy, UTC and Free Schools is a matter for the schools’ governing bodies as the admission authority for the school. Any comments relating to a Voluntary Aided, Foundation, Academy, UTC or Free Schools should be addressed directly to the school in question.
