GRAHAM SCHOOL IS PART OF

Ecuador Adventure

Our journey to Ecuador began on 13 July and completes some four weeks later back at school. We will be working in partnership with Camps International known for its ethical journey.

Our purpose is to experience an extreme culture for a short while to understand and support it. We will also create a relationship with the local population camp with the ultimate goal to grow and develop the children.

A few facts on Ecuador: it’s situated on the west of South America bordering Peru and Columbia. It straddles the equator and its coastline sits on the Pacific. It has a diverse landscape including the Amazon and Andes, and Quito is the highest capital in the world with an elevation of 2850m. Ecuador has the largest active volcano and many of its sites are UNESCO world heritage sites.

Our travels will take us to Quito camp based with the Kichwa community projects here we will take part in water collection and management, re-forestry jungle trek and a cultural activity.

We then move onto Camp Costa where our project is based with a local school this is near the Pacific Ocean. Days 15 to 20 we fly to the Galapagos with the main focus being wildlife environment and cultural activities. Days 21 to 25 will be at Camp Kurikucho where we will take in cultural agriculture handcrafts and local dance traditions. Day 26 – 27 will be spent at Tumbaco for some well-earned rest and relaxation before we arrive back home from our adventure.

Good luck to all taking part in this once in a lifetime opportunity, and a big shout out to Ms Swan for supporting our students on this amazing experience.
